September 15, AO year 1, week 16

This morning, we listened to Schubert, our current composer over breakfast.
We started our school day with 1 Samuel 24:1-22, our scheduled AO reading (David spares Saul). Fina narrated it.

We sang our hymn, "A Place at the Table." I read our next poem from Now We Are Six, "Sneezles." It is a cute poem. Fina recited "Now Fair Hippolyta" in preparation for tomorrow's co-op meeting.

We read chapter 8, "Wood Peewee" from The Burgess Bird Book.  We stopped at various points for Fina to narrate. We learned that many birds use "old houses" that woodpeckers had previously hollowed out.

We did some cursive work.
We sang through our folk song "I've been working on the railroad."
Fina read three pages of Plenty of Fish.
And we completed 7F of our math. Next time we will do the test and extra activities for lesson 7.

After lunch, we went back to the creek, not wanting to lose out on the nice weather, and had a fun time, though our friends who were going to *try* to make it were unable.

While there, we read some more The Little House in the Big Woods. And did some great nature study. This beautiful Monarch came near us.

And we painted it.

Fina had created this vest and shorts combo out of bubble wrap before we left and she tested it out in the creek.

And we made a little paper boat and watched it float on the current.

What a great day!
Tomorrow is our first co-op since the spring, so stay tuned!

    1. She liked the bubble wrap outfit, for a bit. It "worked" and then she took it off!
